    I'm currently developing a questing system for the server.
    I want help creating quests.

    Quests will be started by talking to NPCs. An NPC can either be a player model (with any player skin), or any type of mob.

    Types of quests:
    -Gather Item: the item can come from anywhere, just show it to the NPC to complete the quest. The item can require a certain name, for special items (e.g. Guardian Tool), and they can require enchantments (e.g. "Bring me an axe with efficiency");
    -Kill mobs: Set any amount of a type of mob that needs to be killed
    -Craft item: Set an item that needs to be crafting
    -Catch fish: Catch a fish to complete the quest

    Gather item can be combined with the other types. So you could say go kill a chicken, and bring back a feather.

    There can be starting items, which are given to a player when they start the quest.

    There can be reward items, which are given to a player when they complete the quest. This is also the way to give out XP, Money and other virtual rewards through books.

    Quests need a name and a description.

    When talking to an NPC to accept a quest, they can have 1 line of dialog. They can also have 1 line of dialog when completing the quest. They should be simple enough to make use of this, there's no need for an in-depth story.

    You can also specify quest completion requirements for starting a quest.

    Each NPC should only be able to give out 1 quest at a time. If you want multiple quests from the same NPC, make one a requirement of the other rather than allowing them to be done at the same time.

    The starting NPC does not need to be the same NPC that completes a quest.

    If you want a long quest that requires multiple tasks, set them as multiple quests with parts. (part 1, part 2, etc.)


    As a summary, here is a quest checklist:
    -Name
    -Description (gather item, catch a fish, kill mobs, craft item)
    -Start NPC
    -End NPC (can be the same, doesn't have to be)
    -Start dialog
    -End dialog
    -Quest requirements
    -Start items (optional)
    -Reward items (optional, recommended)

    If you create an NPC, specify the type and location.


    Here are some examples:

    Quest: Cook's Assistant
    Description: Bring an egg to the Chef.
    Start NPC: Chef
    End NPC: Chef
    Start dialog: "I'm baking a cake for the Duke, but I need an egg. Can you get one for me?"
    End dialog: "Thank you, but the Duke already left. You can have this."
    Reward: 1 Cake

    Quest: Fishing Contest
    Description: Catch a Genie Fish and bring it to the Goblin.
    Start NPC: Goblin
    End NPC: Goblin
    Start dialog: "Hey, I don't like you. You bring me magical fish. Then maybe I like you."
    End dialog: "Okay okay. I like you."
    Start item: Fishing Rod
    Reward item: Fishing XP Book

    Quest: Recipe For Disaster (Part 1)
    Description: Take 10 apples to the goldsmith.
    Start NPC: Chef
    End NPC: Goldsmith
    Start dialog: "I need you gather some apples and take them to a friend of mine. He will reward you."
    End dialog: "Thanks for the apples bud. Here, take these."
    Quest Requirements: Cook's Assistant, Fishing Contest.
    Reward items: 5 Golden Apples

    Quest: Recipe For Disaster (Part 2)
    Description: Defeat the Ender Dragon
    Start NPC: Goblin
    End NPC: Chef
    Start dialog: "You got magical apples? Use for killing big beast of the sky"
    End dialog: "You saved us! Here, this is for all you've done"
    Quest Requirements: Recipe For Disaster (Part 1)
    Reward item: Diamond sword with unbreaking V, 20k Slayer XP Book.

    NPCs:
    Chef (Player with skin 'cy44'). Location: Up stairs at spawn.
    Goblin (Iron Golem). Location: Outside of Dragon City NE gate.
    Goldsmith (Villager, blacksmith). Location: The village next to Sykton.

    Just as an idea, you could make a quest area in another world. Place for everybody to explore. Similar to any Game with quests (Think Fable, WoW, RS etc.). You could travel between different areas on foot. It would be a lot of work but worth it.

    Quest: Witches Helper (Part 1)
    Description: Get the Mother Witch 2 Ghast tears to save her life.
    Start NPC: Mother Witch
    End NPC: Mother Witch
    Start dialog: "Hello child, I'm feeling quite sick, I need 2 Ghast tears to make a potion your help will be rewarded."
    End dialog: "Thank you, Here's your reward, I do have another potion i need your help with, Speak to me again soon."
    Quest requirements:
    Start items:
    Reward: 5 Potion of Regeneration II


    Quest: Witches Helper (Part 2)
    Description: Help the Mother Witch gather 2 Blaze powder to create a potion.
    Start NPC: Mother Witch
    End NPC: Mother Witch
    Start dialog: "Hello child, I'm still not feeling myself, I need 2 Blaze powder once again your help will be rewarded."
    End dialog: "Thank you, I made to many potions, You can have the rest."  
    Quest requirements: Witches Helper (Part 1)
    Start items:
    Reward: 5 Potion of Strength II, 1000 Coins


    Quest: The Best Sword Smith
    Description: Bring the Sword smith 3 diamonds
    Start NPC: Sword smith
    End NPC: Sword smith
    Start dialog: "Hello traveler, I'm  the best Sword smith there is, Bring me 3 diamonds and ill prove it."
    End dialog: "*BANG* *BANG* Excellent my best sword yet! Uhhh here you can have my old one."
    Quest requirements:
    Start items:
    Reward: Diamond Sword (Sharpness 3)


    Quest: The Squire (Part 1)
    Description: Bring the Squire 10 Gold bars to prove your worth
    Start NPC: Squire
    End NPC: Squire
    Start dialog: "Hello sir, I could use your help with a mission, prove your worth and bring me 10 Gold Bars."
    End dialog: "Good job, I have more use for you yet, Go assist the angry pigman we'll talk soon."
    Quest requirements:
    Start items:
    Reward: 5 Golden Apples.


    Quest: The Angry Pigman
    Description: Help the Pigman get 2 Wither skulls
    Start NPC: Angry Pigman
    End NPC: Angry Pigman
    Start dialog: "What! you are what the squire sends me.. He requires 3 wither skulls i only have 1 get the other 2."
    End dialog: "Well well i dont believe it.. Go back and tell the Squire we are ready."  
    Quest requirements: The Squire, The Best Sword smith, Witches Helper (Part 2)

    Reward: 4 Soul Sand, Slayer XP Book, 5000 Coins.

    Description: Give the squire 4 soul sand and see "Master"

    I created the Sword Smith and Mother Witch. Need locations for the others.

    I put a Casino Manager on the roof of the casino. Gonna be a quest line where he wants to jump because the casino isn't making enough money.

    Start NPC: Grandma (I recommend she be added at the weird house by EC [X:-214 Y:75 Z:-261])
    End NPC: Grandma
    Start dialog: "Oh dear grandchild, it would appear as though I am out of cookies! Would you be so sweet as to bring me the ingredients required?"
    End Dialog: "Why, thank you dear child! Here, take some, and I'll even give you an early Christmas gift! Now, if only I could get someone to deliver these delicious cookies..."

    What do you think of the idea of Skill Masters who give a quest to get X amount of their skill type then reward a random skill book, armour or Sap Cap of that type. You could make it like a daily. It could either be 1 master for each skill or just 1 master who randomly assigns a skill type.

    A fisherman at the Fishing Dome who once a day asks for X amount of a random fish from maybe a pool of 10 fish that aren't too common, like 5 Bajafish. Then you get an emerald or 2 for completion.
